Stewart’s: Edinburgh Gold

Stewart Brewing was founded in Edinburgh as a local, independent micro-brewery 2004 by Steve and Jo Stewart and was based on two very simple principles, to produce the highest quality ale and beers possible and to provide an exceptional service to its customers. Edinburgh Gold is the winner of  2007 SIBA* Scotland Regional Beer Competition Scotland Supreme Champion Gold Medal winner, Premium Bitter 2006 SIBA* Scotland Regional Beer Competition Silver Medal winner, Premium Bitter.

Pours a clear gold, with a hefty white head.  Boasts an attractive continental hop aroma of light fruits mostly banana and grassy edges. Refreshing, balanced and full of flavour the taste is a spicy grass hop bitterness with a big malty sweetness and again with the banana lingering. Light to medium body with modest bitter edge and an attractive smooth finish.  This is a captivating gold bier, sophisticated in taste and rich in colour which over all gives a nicely done lighter beer style. I had the opportunity to try this beer for the first time at the Stewart’s Brewery while on a tour and the experience pushed up my 32 new beers on my list of 32 Things. It is part of Stewart’s  permanent range and its not hard to see why!
