WEST: St Mungo

WEST was born from the belief that Scotland deserved a Premium lager to be proud of. Located in the Templeton Building on Glasgow Green however they are currently in the process of building a new facility in Port Dundas, named The WEST Centre of Brewing Excellence. This new state-of-the-art brewery will increase brewing capacity twenty-fold. WEST Brew in strict accordance with the time-honoured traditions of the 1516 German Purity Laws, and every beer is the product of carefully sourced barley, hops, yeast and water, and absolutely nothing else. St Mungo is flagship Premium lager of WSET brewery and is named after the patron saint of Glasgow and fellow brewer! DLG German Gold Medal Winner, St Mungo is a beer worth trying!

Full bodied but easy drinking, ST. MUNGO is a hybrid between a true Bavarian Helles and a northern German Pils which over all gives it Pale Lager style.First appearance shows a very bright and clear golden pint with a lot of bubbles and a lively white head. Aromas of fresh hay and grass push through with mineral notes on the nose. Thin smooth texture on the palate, natural prickely carbonated with a fresh malty sweetness contrasted by subtle hop bitterness. I enjoyed my first ever pint of WEST St Mungos at Cloisters Bar in Edinburgh, i cannot find their website but you can find them on twitter @Cloisters_Bar. Clean, crisp and refreshing, I would come back to this beer, it really was so easy to drink and enjoyable!
