Stewart Brewing was founded in Edinburgh as a local, independent micro-brewery 2004 by Steve and Jo Stewart and was based on two very simple principles, to produce the highest quality ale and beers possible and to provide an exceptional service to its customers. Cascadian East is part of Stewart’s Hop Series, I have no idea where the name comes from I have contacted the brewery but no word back.
It pours a light colour with a huge white head. The beer is defined by the American hops which give it an effervescent bitterness. The nose is full flavoured with grapefruit, citrus and tropical fruits and a pine cone undertone. There is a caramel whisper on the palate. The finish is crisp, dry and thirst quenching! It is the perfect beer for grilled burgers or pizzas as well as lighter fare like sushi or green salads. I had the opportunity to try this beer for the first time at the Stewart’s Brewery while on a tour and it is so far a favourite of 32 new beers on my list of 32 Things. Cracking wee beer if you can find one get it!
