Whitewater: Belfast Ale

Whitewater  brewery based in Kilkeel, County Down, in the wonderful wee contery of Northern Ireland.  Whitewater  aim to make unique hand-crafted beers in small batches using only the finest ingredients.  Established in 1996 Whitewater has been steadily growing and gaining recognition as one of the finest microbreweries in Northern Ireland, United Kingdom and beyond.

Belfast Ale is Whitewater’s most popular brew and after tasting it its not hard to see why.  Pours a malty reddish-amber with beige head.  Aromas of caramel, toasted malts and slight hints of a floral hoppyness.  The palate has a rich and refreshing bitterness with a sweet malted flavour which gives the ale a weightier punch. I really did enjoy this ale, it was a slowly enjoyed pint with friends in front of a fire that I will go back to.  I first tasted this beer while in a bar in Belfast called The Dirty Onion. The bar is amazing if you have a chance to go visit it I would recommend it. The environment is quirky and relaxing and a perfect wee place to chill out and grab a beer!  It is another welcome addition to the range of 32 New Beers on my list of 32 Things and as beer 16 I am half way through!
